Supplies needed for art (a visual list)

Dear Murch Families,
I'm sure by now you have received my letter about what supplies your child needs to participate successfully in the Murch art program. Please send in the following items if you have not already done so: If you are not sure, please ask your child or email me and I will check.

1. 2 sponges (the ones with the scrubby part on one side is best, but I'm not picky)

2. 1 old (no longer needed) t-shirt to be used as an art smock. Will be happily painted and destroyed over the course of the year. Write your child's name across the front with permanent marker. These t-shirt will stay in school in your child's locker/cubby and children will wear them to art.

3. Last and MOST importantly, send in a composition book that will serve as a sketchbook. This is not the same one as the one your child may need for music. This book will live in my art studio and be returned at the end of the year.

Supply List of Fall 2010 (grades Pre-K-5th at Murch)

It might be still a bit early but I have had some parents request my supply list for the fall.
Here it is:

1. One large T-shirt that you no longer need. If the sleeves are too long, please trim them. Have child's first name written visibly across the front. These t-shirts will be kept in the classroom and worn in art class each week.
2. Two-four sponges. Please place these in a bag labeled "art room" so they make it to me or drop them off in the room. Last year I used wipes. I am trying to be more "green", hence the use of sponges.

3. 2 boxes of nose tissues.....(this is not mandatory). Please write ART ROOM across the front so it makes it to me.

Items Needed for Art

I have a lot of parents e-mail me asking me to clarify what their child needs for art. So here is a visual list. As a 100% visual learner I love visual anything.
1. Your child needs a large t-shirt that will used as a smock. Usually they work better than the plastic ones. These smocks stay in the child's cubby/locker and they come to art already wearing them regardless of what we are doing.

2. Each child will need to bring in 2 containers of wipes. These wipes are used to clean hands after painting, gluing, printing. If we were to wash hands we'd waste 20 minutes of our 45 minutes. These same wipes then are used to clean the tables which are often also covered in paint. They do not need be disinfecting wipes.

sketchbook

3. your child will also need a sketchbook or a booklet of paper with no lines. Preferably with pages thicker than a composition book. We might use watercolors in them so a regular notebook might not work. make sure you heavily label this for they will be needed each time in the art studio. The older kids can bring these back and forth from home for I will be giving assignments to complete at home. A old sketchbook with at least 40 empty and usable pages will be fine too.
