My colleague Susan and I are working on planning this unit together. Seeing as our focus this year has been creating group art work, we thought to make a bottle cap mural. To begin, we used images of other bottle cap murals as inspiration.
Next steps required us to sort the caps and notice which colors we had most of and the variety.
Back in class each child was given a 12"x12" paper to explore making a design in. Due to time constraints most of these were not finished, yet, the experience in the exploration is what will be essential in getting students to understand what types of designs are possible and what types were not.
This student used the green twisty tops as leaves. What great problem solving.
Some students chose to work together to come up with a design.
