I am super proud of these creations. I had to be out of school Tuesday and left some lessons plans for the substitute. The lesson plan for the 4th graders, who normally come to art for an hour and 10 minutes needed to be involved and complex to fill the whole time. I had the teacher read a biography about Picasso to the students first. After, they used a worksheet to help them plan their faces. Last, they used oil pastels to color in the faces and the background. I think I may use this again soon. The results were very pleasing.
This site is meant primarily as a resource for other elementary visual art teachers. Enjoy! All works posted before August 2014 are images from an elementary school I worked at in DC, all posted after that date are from an language immersion elementary school in Arlington, Virginia. Feel free to use ideas shared on this blog. Please, if trying out the ideas , at the very minimum give me written/verbal credit. Thank you!!
