Children in 2nd grade will be creating human sculptures in movement and began this unit by drawing 2-minute quick sketches of bodies in motion. We began by discussing where our bodies bend and what that looks like on paper. Children had to practice drawing only what they saw. It was a bumpy road at first, but quickly the children understood that they would have better success if they actually followed the rule......"only draw what you see....."
This site is meant primarily as a resource for other elementary visual art teachers. Enjoy! All works posted before August 2014 are images from an elementary school I worked at in DC, all posted after that date are from an language immersion elementary school in Arlington, Virginia. Feel free to use ideas shared on this blog. Please, if trying out the ideas , at the very minimum give me written/verbal credit. Thank you!!
